Episode 150 - Justin Maturo (Erector Brewing)

Episode 150 - Justin Maturo (Erector Brewing)

This week’s featured artist is Justin Maturo of Erector Brewing.

We came to connect with Justin years ago as part of the great #CTBeer Beer Share crew. He and his brother are avid beer fans and collectors who have been great resources to me personally for years. From this shared cellar diving friendship I came to learn of his story and launching of his own brewery, Erector Brewing. And prior to that he started his own print shop, Lefthand Print Shop.

We used this episode to connect on his new adventure which has him splitting time between CT and Vermont while he works with Snow Republic Brewery. Justin shares his story and passion for art, creating clothes and his current love of patterns in his designs.

Episodes like this are great and also tough because they are natural discussion that would have definitely happened in person, but I am glad that it has allowed us to pause and take things into perspective like family and friendship. We dedicate this episode to those who we have lost and have impacted our lives infinitely and specifically to his late father. This idea of those who we have loved and been in our lives impact who we are as people is the theme for the collaboration beer we want to do together ‘Souls of the Trees’. I can’t wait to work together and bring it to life.

Enjoy each day and use this time to look at the positives in life and that includes all of you, all of us. Be safe.

Episode 149 - TALLBOY (Bissell Brothers Brewing)

Episode 149 - TALLBOY (Bissell Brothers Brewing)

This week’s featured artist is Tallboy. We came to learn of this artist through the work he has down at two of my favorite places in Maine - Bissell Brothers and High Roller Lobster Co. It is fitting that our first episode back in some time is a close connection to a place that is being impacted right now like many across the country.

Maine has become a part of who I am and has made me appreciate life, people and my family more every year. Through this project I have been blessed to make so many friends there and knowing they are hurting, scared and not sure of what tomorrow brings hurts my heart. This episode is dedicated to all of them and all of you.

Tallboy is a unique spirit who is passionate about what he does and creates art under his own terms and vision. When I first discovered his work I followed along for months and months with the hope he would do just one label and he did. Worth A Visit, Worth A Lifetime is a perfect compliment to his work and a great level of trust from Peter who loves his home state more than anyone I have met in my life. If it was the SATs it would be Peter Bissell: Maine as AJ: Philly.

We talk about skate decks, graffiti, black lights and life. With some of the imagery and creative that he brings to life you would think that he would be a tough guest, but he was great, down to earth and just an all around good person who loves his craft and appreciates every opportunity.

I am so happy to be back this week. I hope that this episode is a small distraction and brings a smile to your face and lets you know we are here for you. Be safe. We love you and are here for you.

Episode 148 - Alex Ponce (The Bruery)

Episode 148 - Alex Ponce (The Bruery)

This week’s featured artist is Alex Ponce. We came to learn of Alex through his designs for one of the more iconic brands in beer, The Bruery.

Working a dream gig at his favorite bruery (sorry Dads love puns) is a great story from being a Preservation Society member to their Lead Designer. Also the way that we came to learn of Alex is an awesome story which you will have to enjoy and appreciate the purity and genuine nature of it.

Andy is a passionate designer, gym rat and beer lover. He believes that good beer should be shared amongst friends and enhance the experience which I agree with 100. Learn about his side hustle @hopfeed and what inspired him to create his own beer inspired clothing line.

Episode 147 - Mathew Mayes (Black Lung Brewing)

Episode 147 - Mathew Mayes (Black Lung Brewing)

This week’s featured artist is Mathew Mayes who we came to learn about through his work with Black Lung Brewery.

Mat is an interesting person who wears many hats from Father to Vet to Activist to Tattoo Artist to Label Maker and several in between. To say he has a few different stories to share with you would be an understatement. A passionate laid back honest creative probably wouldn’t fit well on a business card, but is just a quick high level overview of this week’s guest.

As we ramp up for primary season, learn about Matt and his story and why he does what he does. I know you will be as impressed as I was with him and also get to learn about the story behind one of the more unique breweries in the country - Black Lung.

Episode 146 - Aaron Scamihorn (Indiana City Brewing Co.)

On top of that he is a popular requests from artists and fans which makes our lives a lot easier especially from 16oz Canvas alumni Joey Potts.
