Episode 138 - John Tarka (Tribus Beer Co.)

Episode 138 - John Tarka (Tribus Beer Co.)

Black Friday Sale: Episode 138 is LIVE where your favorite podcasts are sold (they’re free!!)

We came to learn of John and his work as we have had the pleasure of watching Tribus grow and evolve into one of the top breweries in CT. If you’ve ever been to their brewery you will notice that many of the walls inside and outside are covered with beautiful murals which bring a good energy and warmth to their location.

A perfect episode for the Thanksgiving holiday and looking at what we are thankful and appreciative of in life as John has a humility and perspective that helps to literally make the world a better place. He shares how he messed up the Tribus logo during one of his first meetings, why he does he what does and some genuine discussions about being a father and what we both want for our versions of Trey.

Episodes like this are special for the genuine and raw in the moment connection. We may have spoken for all of 5 minutes prior to our interview and really shared a vibe that was special. Take a moment to look at the big picture, what you are thankful for and what we can do together to impact change and positivity in our local community.

Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you all for checking in with us each week. Season 13 video announcement in coming days and 2020 will be here before we know it!!

Episode 137 - Tobias Lund (Omnipollo)

Episode 137 - Tobias Lund (Omnipollo)

This week’s featured artist is Tobias Lund of Omnipollo.

Join us as we connect with this international traveler, musician and artist on his adventures, love of music and him having his dream job all while enjoying the experiences of fatherhood and being a proud father.

Sweden to San Fran to Berlin and now back to Sweden is a great path filled with perspective, experiences and adventures. A very open minded and creative individual who has a persona that is full of life and Mother Nature. We got him to take a break from creating new music, forage for shrooms and take time to get weird with us. This connection has me more excited for the future 3-D or maybe a new level of dimension interaction with Tobias. It is sure to be a vivid and beautiful trip.

Episode 136 - Ken Weaver (Massive Potions)

Episode 136 - Ken Weaver (Massive Potions)

This week’s featured artist is Ken Weaver of Massive Potions. A unique interview with writer turned illustrator and comic book creator.

Ken has been involved with the beer scene for longer than I am allowed to share with you. Learn about his career, his adventures and what gave him the guts to make the right turn to create Massive Potions.

A fun conversation where we discuss his most recent judging experience at GABF, how a beer category can not have a gold medal winner, who the people are in his made up post apocalyptic universe and what he uses for his inspiration for their adventures. We recommended that they go on an award winning beer podcast in a future episode (I know we haven’t won any awards but this thing takes place in the future and a boy can dream!!).

Episode 135 - Frank Gaspar (Buttonwoods Brewery)

Episode 135 - Frank Gaspar (Buttonwoods Brewery)

This week’s featured artist is Frank Gaspar with Buttonwoods Brewing. This marks another first for us as our first guest from Rhode Island and also our first brewery in Rhode Island - bonus points. A private guy who lets us get nosey and creep on his IG too.

We take a dive into his story, how he ended up calling RI his home and even a little bit about his day job and other passions. Each label tells a story and is part of a process with the owner of the brewery and has some correlation to the style and series of beers that they are making there. There is a method to the madness. They like to approach each label to make them feel like an album cover.

We’ve said it once and will say it again. (NOTE: We don’t know who said it originally) Beer labels are the new album covers. A laid back conversation which dips out of design into email marketing, the top cities of Rhode Island and much more.

The team at Hired Guns Creative is doing a lot of great things and has assembled a great team to bring their clients’ brands and designs to life. This episode is a great opportunity to learn about a successful business that has committed to offering its clients unique designs and creations that have become their Hallmark.

The current state of the business is just a part of the story, so take a trip with us down memory lane to see how the trials and tribulations of yesteryear helped them decide to form their own business and do it on their terms. Richard is a great example of the power of hard work and doing what you love. He is passionate, no bullshit and badass.

A fun introspective look at his career, journey and how he works with each of the brands in his portfolio. We are lucky to have the opportunity to make these connections and share them with you. The work that Will is doing is unique in his passion for printing and making truly unique one of a kind labels by pushing the limits of printing utilize patterns and even mathematics. His designs range from the modern to folklore and a few in between across all of the key libations of life - beer, wine, coffee and spirits. Maybe he needs to do a water label ha.
