Episode 132 - Zach Woomer (Levante Brewing)

Episode 132 - Zach Woomer (Levante Brewing)

This week’s featured artist is Zach Woomer checking in from the 215 which is always a treat for me. We came to learn of Zach via one of our supporters and listeners Phil of @pairedpints who shared the work that he does for Levante Brewing .⁣

A great perspective on his journey and following in his brother’s footsteps, finding a job he truly loves and continuing to challenge and push himself with styles and opportunities. It was nice to speak to someone who wakes up each day and feels lucky and blessed to be doing what they are doing and it shows. He’s a versatile artist who likes to experiment with different processes and we dive into that too. A laid back episode that has become a trademark of the project. Maybe we do know what we are doing at this point? Nah.⁣

Do what you live and it won't seem like it's work. I think that is how that one goes right?

Episode 131 - Caleb Lin (Graft Cider)

Episode 131 - Caleb Lin (Graft Cider)

This week’s featured artist is Caleb Luke Lin. We came to learn of his work by way of Michelle, The Brew Babe and her love of cider and advocacy for gluten free beverages. He does the labels, designs as well as story telling for Graft Cider which makes this a first for us, our first cider featured here. When you listen you’ll hear we had some fun with it and referred to this episode as the 12oz. Canvas - the Art of Craft Cider.

We took the time to explore his style and the foundation of his work and were able to draw an instant connection to two classes he remembered as being influential in school. To be able to tie it all together like that was a really enjoyable takeaway from the interview and episode. I wonder what experiences throughout our adventures has shaped us and who we are today. It is a nice introspective exercise that I am sure you will benefit from too. Looking at this layouts and designs (and even the photography he shares) can you guess what the two classes were?

Learn about his process, how he ended up in Brooklyn by way of Baltimore and even his love of the Ravens. We were happy we didn’t jinx them and they won last week.

Episode 130 - Adam O'Day (Aeronaut Brewing)

Episode 130 - Adam O'Day (Aeronaut Brewing)

This week’s featured artist is Adam O’Day from Abington, MA. We came to learn of this fine artists through his work with Aeronaut Brewing. ⁣AJs for life.

“Couldn’t have gotten here without giving up a few times” - a quote from Adam that really resonated with me.

The paint is still wet on this interview as we recover from HUBBUB and Adam is fresh off his most recent gallery show at Curation 250 in Lowell, MA. This talk was eye opening for me to get a perspective into his process, gallery shows and ask some basic questions in a safe space. It was great to learn about his career path, love of music and what he is thinking for his next series. ⁣

Episode 129 - Hugo Trejo (Saint Errant Brewing)

Episode 129 - Hugo Trejo (Saint Errant Brewing)

This week’s featured artist is Hugo Trejo. We came to learn of Hugo through his work with Saint Errant Brewing & More Brewing.

This hard working passionate artist and father is really inspiring. His love of art and drawing is part of his core makeup and something that is drawn to do every day. His versality and willingness to try different things is part of his style and why people enjoy his work. Many of these mediums that he utilizes are self taught with a focus on just doing good work. We would say that his work is great and that it continues to impress and wow us with each piece. A craft beer enthusiast that is playing a key role in the growth of these breweries and their brands which makes it even more exciting.

Learn about his holiday cars - Halloween and Christmas, his stunning portraits as well as his process. We are happy that we have made the cut and will be on the list for this year’s version. The bar is set pretty high for what could be next in that adventure which started off as a personal project for him, which I think is great advice for someone starting out and looking to push themselves.

Episoe 128 - Vicky Carr & Chris Shearston (Cloudwater Brew Co.)

Episoe 128 - Vicky Carr & Chris Shearston (Cloudwater Brew Co.)

This week’s featured artists are Vicky Carr & Chris Shearston who together make up Textbook Studio . We came to learn of their story and work through their designs and labels for Cloudwater Brew Co.⁣

Learn about their process, how they are always on the search for unique textures and patterns so much that you may find them on the floor scanning at a pub or getting excited during the next time your computer crashes and displays the ultimate glitch. We also spend a little longer than usual discussing toilets, but it all ties things together.⁣⁣

This team is creating unique works for Paul Jones and the team at Cloudwater, but are also doing a lot of other wonderful projects that make their story special. Believing in themselves from the beginning and deciding to go for it by being true to their visions is inspiring and motivation. ⁣⁣

I took a lot away from this one and know you will too. Enjoy and let us know if you can find a good island for us all to use for the next event.⁣

Episode 127 - Erika Melhus (Norway Brewing Company)

Episode 127 - Erika Melhus (Norway Brewing Company)

This week’s featured artist is Erica Melhus. We came to learn of her work through our love of Maine and the labels she has done for Norway Brewing Co. of which she is a co-owner and founder.

Erica will also be one of the featured artists at The Art of Craft Beer: HUBBUB which is happening in Bridgton, Maine at The All Roads Hub on September 28th and 29th. TheArtofCraftBeer.com for more information.

It is rare that we get to sit down and spend time with someone before we interview them and honestly if we can avoid it we try and make that part of the process, to make the experience genuine and organic. With that said there are exceptions to every rule and this is definitely one of them. As you may have heard me rant on about (just a ‘few times’), I love Maine and value my time there. We try and spend as much time each year as possible, so when the opportunity to collaborate with Norway on a beer for the event it was truly special.

Her work and perspective on life are rooted in nature and enjoying life. It is contagious and positive and genuine which is obvious. Sit back and relax with this one and hopefully, you can feel that vibe and energy too.
